Cambodian weddings

The rainy season is over in Cambodia, and that means the wedding season is now beginning. Most weddings here take place in the first two months after the end of the monsoon.

It’s a matter of pride to throw a bombastic wedding party. These parties are often held outdoors on the street. Candy-colored gazeboes are put up for the occasion, decorated with pink hearts, tassles and baloons.

One more thing that’s a must: a gold-framed glamour shot of the lucky couple placed at the entrance to the party tent.

The meal for the wedding party is also prepared al fresco in an impromptu kitchen on the side of the street, right next to the party gazebo.
